I made this card for my brother (technically my brother-in-law). His name is Peter and his birthday is on the 19th! I hope he likes it! :) Now I just have to figure out what to get him for his birthday! :)

I  made this whole thing using the March Kit! Pick yours up before it is gone!  

The THEME this month is "boy crazy" and a challenge: make a card, layout, altered item that represents "boy crazy". It can be boyfriend, husband, son, etc. Have fun with it! Use at least one circle, twine, and at least one button.

The challenge will run for the whole month. Participants must comment on all of our blogs during the hop AND participate in the challenge if they want to win the prize: April's KIT!!! Buy the March Kit from SPS and participate in the challenge in order to win April's kit! Using the March kit is not necessary to enter the challenge, but if you use it you will get a double entry into the drawing! Glass Etching Tutorial

I am going to run you through the etching portion of a glass etching tutorial. I hope you like it! This was my finished project:

I left out the very beginning which is to line up your words: I used Cricut Craft Room (this was my first project with it and I must say I was impressed!). I wanted mine all cut on the same piece of vinyl. I used EAD Designs Vinyl. LOVE it! It's my favorite vinyl AND the transfer tape comes right on the back of the sheet - no need to buy anything extra - LOVE that!

While it was still on the mat, I weeded out (picked out the letters) so that only the negative was showing.

Then I cut the vinyl into the words (they were all connected to save vinyl).

Now here is the picture portion:

Step 1: Start with a clean glass. It CANNOT have finger prints OR any oil from your hands on the glass if you want the etching to work. So make sure it's clean and then don't touch it. :) I use a dry paper towel to wipe down the service just before I put the vinyl on as well.

Step 2: Use transfer tape (or masking or painter's tape) and lay it smoothly over the word.

Step 3: Use the transfer tape and your nail to start the sticking process of the vinyl (it should be the smooth, not the sticky side) to the STICKY side of the masking tape or transfer tape.

Step 4: Once you have it started, because you smoothed out the tape over the vinyl in step 3, the rest of the vinyl should just stick to the tape as you pull it back. BE CAREFUL to make sure the negative pieces (like the center of this P) are stuck to the transfer tape. This is VERY important so that you don't just have a big hole in the middle of your "P".

Step 5: Using the transfer tape, apply the vinyl to the glass stretching it just a tad to try to keep any bubbles from getting under the vinyl.

Step 6: You can see the bubbles below. These ones are totally fine because they are not touching the negative. If any bubbles are running into the negative, use the masking tape, put it on top of the small area, and use your nail and a lot of pressure to make the bubbles go away. If you do not, the etching cream will get under the vinyl and create little bubble ends to your letters.

Step 7: Apply masking or painters tape around the negative so that if the etching cream drips you don't get funny lines. :)

Step 8: I use Armour Etch. I bought this little bottle a while ago and it has been awesome! I couldn't find my paint brushes so I just used a q-tip. Works for me!

Step 9: Apply it on THICK and let it sit there for at least 60 seconds. I let them sit for probably about 10 minutes or however long it took me to prepare the next glass.

Step 10: (Not Pictured) Rince off the Armour Etch in the sink with water and a gloved finger (apparently this stuff is pretty toxic... I mean, it EATs through glass. Pretty rad stuff!)

Step 11: Dry off glasses. It will become more opaque when it is dry than when it is wet. Enjoy your project! These were a gift for my co-mom (mother-in-law) for her birthday. When we come over we will all have our own personalized wine glasses! :)

Clip It Up Review and a GIVEAWAY

Good Friday morning to you!!!

I had the EXTREME pleasure of receiving a very special deal on Clip It Up Products from Simply Renee Inc™! I ordered the 36" Clip It Up Ribbon Organizer and the 18.5" tall Clip It Up. This is my sincere review...

I LOVE THEM!!!!

Now, as you all know I have only been crafting for about two years and have slowly built my supplies up. However, you also know I have a SERIOUS crinkled ribbon addiction and I didn't want to roll it onto a spool in case it de-crinkled it... SO this was absolutely perfect!

The spools go in the top and it keeps them straight because of the slider in the middle which I have pushed all the way to the left against the ribbons.

ALL of my crinkled ribbon is now clipped up! I love it! I added some My Mind's Eye twine, Twinery twine, and Stampin' Up ribbon on the end. Perfect!

There are two scissor holes on each side of the ribbon organizer. How clever!!! You can just grab your scissors and cut the ribbon you want! I need to get a new pair of sharp scissors and then that is exactly where they are going! Too cool!

It was easy to put up with the help of my handsome husband and every ounce of the design was so well thought out!

Well, how many good things can I say about this..?...

1. Assembly = easy peasy.

3. Even holds my Biggie Stamps by My Pink Stamper? = YES! (see pic below)

4. Looks neat and tidy = YES!

5. Spins for easy access = YES!

6. Clips are solid and will hold up my stamps forever = YES!

7. Good construction = YES!

All in all, I can't say enough good things about the Clip it Up!!!! I LOVE MINE!

My Pink Designer Showcase - a layout???

Welp, I am continuing down my road of attempting to scrapbook... I chose to do a layout for this My Pink Designer Showcase - use more than one stamp! Here it is!

This is from when my husband and I went to Paris. Before we went into Notre Dame, we just sat outside of it and marveled at all of the detail and the people and the gorgeous day. Then we went inside and took a lot more pictures, lit a camera for a few people and prayed for them (even though I'm just plain Christian and not Catholic but I think it is still okay!)

I based this layout on this month's sketch from Artful Delight!

I am off to watch the ATT Pebble Beach PGA tournament today! It's overcast, but should still be a very fun day!

So... This is kind of going to be a review on the 6x6 Authentique paper pads... At least the Free Bird collection ones... I can't even tell you how IMPRESSED I am with them!!

Not only did they tastefully downsize the patterns, but the 6x6 pad advertises "double sided" card stock..... the back side is a MATCHING SOLID!!! HOW COOL IS THAT?!? LOVE it!!!! It's WAY better than it looks on the cover too (the patterns).

ALSO, the paper is super heavy weight - you know like My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose? It's textured AND heavy weight! It really is fabulous! CHECK it out!!!

Anywho I made this for Robyn's (My Pink Stamper) birthday. I hope she likes it!

I wanted to show how diverse the kit can be so I made this baby card. My mom thought it was a swimsuit! I laughed thinking to myself that I sometimes still feel like a 3 year old showing her my crayon drawings... "That's a beautiful bird." - "Mom, that's a TREE!" haha.

Your Story project

It's about time that I brought out my Your Story!!!

We moved into a new house as you all know and before in our condo, we always had to put the dog on a leash to take her outside to go potty. Now we have a yard (yay) but she scratches the door to come back in. We don't want her to scratch the door to bits so I made this sign for her to tape on the spot where she would scratch to protect it.

Unfortunately the thickers were a little thick to put through the Your Story. I mean, they went through just fine, but they wrinkled the lamination. That's totally fine with me as I don't need a perfect looking doggy door scratch-resistant thingy-mablober. Just so you know, the Your Story does an EXCELLENT job on flat projects. You can click on some of my other ones by clicking on the label that says "Your Story" and all of those projects will show up! :) I know, I know. I need to do more!

This is for the Cricut Circle challenge - a year in review. It would have pictures in it (I intend for them all to be black and white) but my printer still hasn't gotten it's act together since the move. My computer and the printer simply aren't talking! How rude! ;)

I am still just learning how to do layouts and while this was all on my own, my plan is to case some of the amazing talent around the bloggy world until I find my style. So you will probably see some casing going on soon -and appropriate linking when I do-! :)

Good Wednesday Morning!

My husband and I got the wonderful opportunity to go to Paris a few years ago and absolutely LOVED it so this will probably be for him. We don't do a lot on Valentine's Day. So we'll probably order a pizza and have a picnic on the floor and he might even let me pick a chick flick movie! haha.

Last year I did a 5 course dinner for my friends with wine pairings. Hmm... maybe I should do that again!

Anywho, here it is!

I've been seeing these stitched hearts everywhere, but I don't have a sewing machine. So I scored them all in the middle, punched holes in the top one, and strung twine through it to still give it a "stitched" feel. :)

I attached each of the centers of the hearts together using one extreme adhesive square in between each later.

*Designer's Tip: It is REALLY hard to get a sponge or something else in the cracks and crevices of the letters. I used my inking tip for the d-stress tool by Imaginisce (the inking tip unfortunately ONLY comes in the carrying cases for the d-stress and SPS does not carry the cases, but they DO carry the d-stress tool. You can find the cases at your big chain scrapbook stores.) It attaches to the end of the d-stress. You turn the d-stress on so that it spins and just dip it in the ink and ink wherever you want with a spinning head! IN person the inking is a LOT more even, but because of the photo it picks up some of the darker spots and highlights them. Oh well! :) *

OH! The Christmas tradition! Each person in the family gets assigned another person (in Hans's nuclear family) and we get them a "funny gift". We then have to write a poem about it and from the poem the person has to guess what their gift is. For instance Hans' little brother had just been accepted into a hedge fund in Boston a few years ago. So we made him a hedge hog out of an orange with cloves stuck in it and a little curly tail and we wrote about both. So it has to do with both your life and what's going on and something completely ridiculous. It's pretty "punny".

This was made for my six year old niece (well technically my 2nd cousin, but we're more like sisters). I decided I wanted to make her something for her room so I used her monogram to make this shadow box wall hanging! It's my first one and I hope you like it! :)

I saw this stamp and IMMEDIATELY knew I wanted to do this with it. I am so glad it turned out about the same way as it did in my head. :)

I was super inspired to paper piece by my DTmate and sweet friend (and now DT leader for Imaginisce) Cari Locken. She paper-pieced our sweet penguin stamp in this post HERE. It's a gorgeous layout! So I was excited to try something simpler like my little umbrella friend here. :)

Easy Canvas Prints

Sorry I have been a little slow on getting posts up. I think December will just be slow for me. I need to get my Christmas shopping done before I leave. My husband's family and myself will be off to Idaho for 10 days and there is almost no internet! Anyway, off to get errands done, but I wanted to share this with you!

So.... I was approached by a company via email to turn one of my photos into a canvas print. Ironically, my husband and I had been talking about this the night before because we still have not put up a single wedding picture in our house. So I decided to go ahead and do it. I was offered a canvas in exchange for a review, but a: I upgraded to a bigger size and paid for the difference myself and b: this review is my own opinion of the product. I was allowed to give any opinion I wanted to and this is mine! :)

It was SOOO easy! I procrastinated on getting this ordered because I thought it would take me a while to do and I wanted to make sure it was just right... It took me seriously 10 minutes and that included the check out process! I was SO surprised! They really have made it as simple as possible.

It's SOOOO cool! It turns your photos to canvas!

A little story about this photo... On our wedding day we got some BEAUTIFUL photos, but for some strange reason, there are a grand total of 4 pictures (out of 1400) that were JUST my husband and I! All of the other pictures had other people in them. You never stop to think about it on your wedding day!

Anyway, my friend Jenny from ever whim photographs is a brilliant photographer and I LOVE her style. So within a week of our 2 year anniversary, she graced us with a magical gift - a photo shoot to make up for the pictures we wish we would have gotten on our wedding day.

So I slipped into my dress (I still fit!) and Hans got in his black suit and down to Point Lobos we went to take some pictures. My hair was down for the wedding except for a ribbon (no, it wasn't crinkled ribbon! haha), but this was the other look I was considering but wasn't sure if Hans would like - the bird cage. So I was thrilled that I got to re-do it! :)

This is one of my favorites from the shoot that day and I just had to have it blown up and put in my craft area. I love that man.

I made this for my dad's birthday card! None of you tell him otherwise he will come and peek! :) His birthday is not until December 17th. We are going as a family to the Sharks game I think! :) We are celebrating a part of his birthday this weekend by going up to San Francisco to see Totem - a Cirque de Soleil performance! I am really really excited!

Whew! I definitely owe you some inspiration! I put family first this Thanksgiving and had a lovely time visiting with both my husband's parents (my co-parents as I like to call them), my parents, my grandmother, two of my cousins, and Peter (Hans' brother). We had such a lovely time!

Easel/Gate Fold Card!

It's the My Pink Designer showcase today over at My Pink Stamper's blog! Head on over there to see what we created! The challenge was a "different fold" card. So I combined a gate card and an easel card to do both. I wanted it to look like windows so I used my Gypsy (I LOVE MY GYPSY) to put window into the card. Here is the picture tutorial on how I did it:

FYI if you don't have a Gypsy, you can use Cricut Craft Room! Check it out and it's FREE!!!

My card base was 8.5x8.5" before I cut it, so I did calculations on where I would need the window to go. Then I hid the outside of the window that I took from Kate's ABC's so that only the boxes cut out and not the whole window which would have defeated the purpose.

I taped the yellow polka dots to the white card stock base where I wanted them. Then I put the blade on 6, speed on high, and multi-cut on 2 to ensure that it got through both pieces of card stock.

This is the windows so that there are frames around the windows. I cut them out of white and embossed them with the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes Emboss Folder.

This is what it looked like when I finished cutting it. I actually used the scraps of the 8.5x11" paper to create these. I love using my scraps!

I cut of the bottom 2 1/8" x 4/25" from each side.

Next I embossed the window frames with the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes Emboss Folder. I cut velum to the appropriate size and used a liquid glue to put it behind the window frames, but in front of the yellow polka dotted paper. Here you can also see the three patterned papers I had picked out for my inspiration for the project. :)

I scored the lines appropriately (I can give you these measurements later if anyone wants them).

I took one of the window pane cut outs (which was a double layer of card stock and therefore pretty sturdy) and put it on the back being careful to only put adhesive on the top half.

I put a piece of card stock to fit the inside and stamped the sentiment so I could use it for a birthday card.

Thanksgiving Wine Bottle

This week over at the Imaginisce Blog we were asked to inspire you with Thanksgiving ideas! I chose to decorate a wine (or sparkling cider for our non-drinking friends) bottle as a thank you gift for someone who is hosting.

We are also showcasing the i-Top 2.0 in each and every one of our projects! I have to tell you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 2.0!!! The improvements they made were SO thoughtful and exactly what we all wanted! I know you spent money on the i-Top 1.0 (I did too), but I have to say - UPGRADE! It is WELL worth the money. You will LOVE the changes. The grip is more ergonomic (it's closer together for those of us with little hands), it's lighter all together and now both pads have rubber so nothing slides around! I am very very impressed!

I tried to d-stress the Kraft-Core on the i-Top Brad so that it looked like worn leather. I like the effect. :)

Haha! I'm SO sorry if two of the chubbiest cute blue birds in a row are too much, but I just love them! This was actually the first card I made and I made it for Shantaie.

I won her blog candy which was 3 Birds on Parade and I have been having a lot of change going on in my life and it's been pretty hard on me. I'm a creature of habit. Husband got new job, new car (that's the fun part), moved out of our house in 5 days flat... just a lot for me. I know that we're right where we are supposed to be and change is sometimes hard, but there is SOOO much to be thankful for EVERY day. And when I won that blog candy I teared up and I wanted to let her know that on a rough day, her generosity was the thing that made me smile from ear to ear.

Everything on this card came from Shop Pumpkin Spice except for the crinkled ribbon.

Blue Bird Santa

Hello and welcome to the product swap with Glue Arts and Imaginisce!!! We were super blessed to receive some product from them and I used everything they sent me in this project! THANK YOU GLUE ARTS!

I was surprised how much I liked the "Raisen's". Since they were clear they really disappeared and gave just a slight amount of dimension. I really liked it!

Hmm... This one didn't show up as ell as I wanted it to. It's the Glue Glider Pro on the white, but I guess that's a good thing! It's invisible! :)

Well, you all know how much I love Extreme Adhesive Squares so I was jumping up and down when these were attached to the back of a Glue Glider refill! I loved them!!!

I just wrapped the extra back onto the clothespins and they were AWESOME at sticking to my paper! Very impressive for something so small!

Finished product. I just love this little fat blue bird! He's SOOOO cute!

The U-Cut-It foam is really tall. Which is awesome because I LOVE the dimension it brings. It made his fake beard really look like he had just added it to his face! FUN!

Burlap & Buttercups Challenge

I found this new kit club called Burlap & Buttercups and it's super cute!

They have a weekly challenge where you can play each week to compete for a $15 GC to their store. All of your entries are added up for the month and then they pick one winner. :)

I am putting this in last week's challenge. It was to scrap at an angle... Well, how many projects/cards/whatever have you seen me scrap at an angle? Not many. SO this was a challenge for me! But I LOVE challenges! Wait until you see the one I show you on the 11th! Totally new for me! :) I better get working on it! haha.

Halloween Wreath

Well, this was a last minute project that I made on Halloween! I was feverishly working in the afternoon because I had bought the wreath base and didn't want to hold onto it for a whole year before using it!

So while it's now past Halloween, I thought you might still enjoy it!

I saw something similar to this wreath SOMEWHERE on the internet! I have NO idea where, but it had the same black wreath base and had rosettes. That's all I could remember about this when I was making it! But I had already bought the black background prior to seeing the inspiration. I based this on the November Sketch for Imaginisce! I LOVE this sketch! I worked in all of the layers, scalloped side, ribbon (behind sentiment), journaling (sentiment), and the stars are the pumpkins which I squished together. I deleted all of the picture boxes for obvious reasons.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

My parents, husband, and myself will be jointing my co-family (in laws) in Saint Francis Wood in San Francisco for a Halloween celebration! Last year was their first Halloween in that community and the community told them it was a "hot spot" for trick-or-treaters... well, that was an understatement... We used a counter and clicked for every person that came to the door. After an hour and a half we had given candy out to 1280 children... yes, you read that number right.... 1280!!!! So this year we are going to be prepared! We are very excited about it. So I hope you are doing something fun tonight too! I am personally looking forward to the Hot Apple Cider!

This card is going to my grammy in Ohio! I designed the whole thing around her and having her in mind and this is just PERfect for her! She is as spunky as this shoe and I get some of that from her. :) I know she'll love it!

This is another card I did for the new My Pink Stamper Release!!! This was actually made for my best friend Kourt who will be pumping out a small baby girl ANY day now!!! I am really excited about it! So since her first is a boy, I thought the second should be represented by a "chick". Get it? Geeze, I'm SO cheesy!!! haha. I'm glad you all put up with me!

I know it sounds silly, but when you are inspired by something small, run with it! I was inspired by the lavender crinkled ribbon! I have had it set aside specifically to use because I just loved the soft, sweet color. So that's what I decided to use!

Trick or Treat

Today for Imaginisce we are showing you the new colored foam tape! It is SUPER cool! At first I thought, "interesting... but how is it going to look in practice?" Well, hopefully these pics will show you how well it really works! For once I don't have the white showing out from underneath! I LOVE it!

You know I wouldn't promote anything I didn't LOVE and this - let me just say - has NOT left my craft room table!!! Okay, enough gushing and onto my project.

A VERY sweet friend sent me Happy Hauntings (THANK YOU! You know who you are!!!), so I really wanted to use the cartridge for this Halloween!!!

Trick or Treat

This first picture I pulled off the backing of the tape on the top of the pic -where the bats are- but then I realized you might want to see the before and after... The reason for the funny sizes is that the tape comes in both rolls sand big and little squares - all in one package! I'm sure you're familiar with the squares so I just took a picture of the roll below. Best part - it didn't stick to my scissors!

After! - look how it practically disappears! It's a bit shiny so I used the light to bounce off it so that you could see it a little better.

The roll of red from the side. I know that the red would look good enough against the orange top to hide it.

My Pink Stamper just released a WHOLE new slew of stamp sets that are ALL awesome!!! CHECK them out HERE!!!

I saw this phrase and thought it would be great for a wedding card! When someone asks me how my day is going I usually reply, "fabulous". So I have a feeling this phrase will get used a lot!

*Designer's note: This whole card was made with one of the Christmas lines from Echo Park Paper! Don't forget to use patterns "out of the box"! You'll be pleasantly surprised at what you have in your stash! This just happened to be the closest collection to my craft table (as I can't get enough of it!) so I decided to be "lazy" and use it! LOVE it! :)*

This is my post for Pumpkin Spice today!!!

I made this for our Godson's 2nd birthday!!! He is turning two on the 23rd our time, the 24th his time (he was born at 12:09 I think - or 12:06 in Ohio so I like to say his birthday is on the 23rd. :) It drives his parents - my best friend Kourt - crazy! :)

WE WILL SO miss not being with him for his second birthday, but I know there will be many more chances to celebrate him as the years go on. Then again, every day is a day to celebrate a child.
