Easel/Gate Fold Card!

It's the My Pink Designer showcase today over at My Pink Stamper's blog! Head on over there to see what we created! The challenge was a "different fold" card. So I combined a gate card and an easel card to do both. I wanted it to look like windows so I used my Gypsy (I LOVE MY GYPSY) to put window into the card. Here is the picture tutorial on how I did it: 

FYI if you don't have a Gypsy, you can use Cricut Craft Room! Check it out and it's FREE!!! 

My card base was 8.5x8.5" before I cut it, so I did calculations on where I would need the window to go. Then I hid the outside of the window that I took from Kate's ABC's so that only the boxes cut out and not the whole window which would have defeated the purpose.

I taped the yellow polka dots to the white card stock base where I wanted them. Then I put the blade on 6, speed on high, and multi-cut on 2 to ensure that it got through both pieces of card stock. 

This is the windows so that there are frames around the windows. I cut them out of white and embossed them with the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes Emboss Folder. 

This is what it looked like when I finished cutting it. I actually used the scraps of the 8.5x11" paper to create these. I love using my scraps! 

I cut of the bottom 2 1/8" x 4/25" from each side.

Next I embossed the window frames with the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes Emboss Folder. I cut velum to the appropriate size and used a liquid glue to put it behind the window frames, but in front of the yellow polka dotted paper. Here you can also see the three patterned papers I had picked out for my inspiration for the project. :) 

I scored the lines appropriately (I can give you these measurements later if anyone wants them). 

I took one of the window pane cut outs (which was a double layer of card stock and therefore pretty sturdy) and put it on the back being careful to only put adhesive on the top half. 

I put a piece of card stock to fit the inside and stamped the sentiment so I could use it for a birthday card.

Cuttlebug Challenge Be Inspired #97-Book it!

It's the middle of the week and we all may need a bit of inspiration. This week's theme at the Cuttlebug Challenges is Book it! Feel free to play along, link up your projects, and you might win some Cuttlebug Folders!

Before being asked to be a Design Team member, I was one such lucky winner and not only won a Cricut Cake™ a few months ago during their Wedding Week extravaganza, but won during their Christmas Around the Clock (I'm sure you all remember me posting 24 Christmas projects) and the Cuttlebug™ folder just came in the mail this afternoon. You all will know when the Cricut Cake™ arrives. I will be posting some cakes! All I'm sayin' is, you never know what kind of prizes they are going to have!

Anyway, this is actually a card. The goal was to make a card look like a book - and now I think it looks too much like a book and not enough like a card. I covered some cardboard to make the base of the card and then covered it in white card stock. The edges of the pages are drawn with pencil. This project took a long time and a lot of patience.

I thought about doing it as a tutorial and if there is enough interest, I will gladly do it again, but be prepared to spend about 4 hours on it with glue drying time, etc. It took me about 7 with brainstorming, messing up, and trying again - and I STILL stuck my finger in the ink when it was wet! I hate that! Anyway, I think it was worth it in the end. I love the way it turned out. Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing how this was done!

BBTB2 - Peggy Loves Vintage Challenge

So, over at BBTB2 they are having a challenge sponsored by Peggy Loves Vintage and you had to use one of the 5 images that was provided as well as a "bug" in your creation.

I decided to use the kids with the sand. I went to print it out and oh-no! My printer was out of paper, but it left this gorgeous watermark. So, I decided to leave it as it was and use it as such. I added gold wings with a stamp (yes, you read that right) that I found in a throw-away bin to the little children. My "bug' aspect was the embossing with the Cuttlebug™ using the A2 Script Texture Emboss Folder™. I then sanded it a bit to wear it down. The silver bow came off of a Christmas gift - I've been hoarding the ribbon :) and I just love the background card stock which you can barely see, but it's really pretty and matches the colors perfectly.

I hope Peggy doesn't mind that I added wings and didn't print it out in color!

Challenge Card for BBTB2 and WeeMemories (WMC4)

Challenge Requirements:

BBTB2: To use the leaf from Life's a Beach™ (a Cartridge that I don't have, so I used one from Everyday Paper Dolls™).
WeeMemories: To put script or writing somewhere on the project.

Now, I had such a good time with both. I put on the shirt that I won over at Carole's blog and looked at the album made by Joanna which just came in the mail today and did my best. :) Thanks girls.

Jenny (Wee Memories) has been writing back and forth with me a bit today and gave me some great advice about stamps and some encouragement. Thank you!

So, I cut the card (and envelope) from Wild Card Cartridge™, I embossed the second layer with A2 Script Texture Emboss Folder™ (I LOVE my Cuttlebug™). I cut a little square and inked the edges with the side of a blue pen since I don't have any inks yet and popped it with some foam dots. I cut the leaves from Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge™ and put some ribbon in a diagonal on the bottom with some Tacky glue. I left the sentiment blank because I didn't know what I wanted to use it for yet.
