Christmas Door Hanger Countdown

Hi Doodlebug lovers!!!! I have been wanting to make this for two years and these ADORABLE papers were just the thing to make me do it! And I am SOOOO glad I did! Courtney Lee from Court's Crafts here with a fun project that works for both home as well as a neighbor gift!

This is currently on my daughters' door to their room. Here is my second daughter: Charlotte Rose (2.5) checking it out as I was trying to take pictures! :)

There is this AWESOME sheet of 12x12 paper in this collection which has ALL 25 days on it! I just cut it into squares!

I didn't decorate mine further (not that it needs it; but I love to add sprinkles or dimension) because I am going to laminate these little cards so they hold up over years and years of tiny human holding. :)

All of the days fit into the little box on the front so it is perfect and I don't have to worry about them getting lost or storing them someplace else.

Here it is with one of the squares on the front... CA-ute!!!!! And you could also put little treats in this box for your kids or have it overflowing with candy canes as a neighbor gift, etc!

Aren't the pictures cute? And since they are all from one collection, ALL of them "match"! LOVE!

I used some of the trio rub ons to write the sentiment and added the cutest holly berries shaped sprinkle to the front. The cute mini clothespins are doodlebug too! Could you imagine coming home to find this on your door? I would LOVE it!

Ahoy Mateys! Porthole Cards!

Yo-ho Yo-ho A Pirate’s Life for me. :) Ahoy all ye mateys out there! It’s the Fearsome Ginger of the Pacific Sea here to show you the card set that I made using the new Pirate’s Life from Echo Park Paper! I used 4 - YES 4 - of the die sets that come with this collection to showcase the super cute creatures! I hope you enjoy them!

I actually made these for Emmaline’s pre-school teachers. She just finished her first week at summer-school-pre-school where they had a mermaids/ocean creatures/ships/etc. theme. It was my first time dropping her off somewhere and I just wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful feedback they gave me about her. It was so nice. Here are some close-ups of the four cards!
Here is your tip of the day: add some fibrous twine to your card. Anything that gives a card texture is a HUGE bonus and makes you want to touch it.
I didn’t have any of those nifty silver things that look like bolts on a port-hole so I substituted with some gold and dark gold pearls. I love using up my stash! Also, this was a great way to use up my tiny alphas. I used several different ones so be sure to check out your stash for those tiny alphas when you need a repeated sentiment. Remember that the card recipient is NOT going to see all 4 cards together so if you use different ones on different cards, who cares!? :)

Okay, those anchors are darling. The big one is a die cut and the small one is a sticker. I wanted another pop of color on the card. Stickers to the rescue!

Thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope this inspires you to decorate a small child’s pirate themed birthday party or to change the sentiment into a birthday for big or small. Always feel free to ask any questions you may have and I’m happy to help! Have a beautiful day!

Easter Egg Home Decor using the Silhouette

I saw this egg with the heart center and just HAD to turn it into a home decor piece for Easter! I'm up on the Echo Park Paper blog today with a project that is really quick and easy!

I sized the egg and heart on my Silhouette for a 5x7 photo frame insert. The egg was 4.248” wide after I sized it. I cut it out of the Carta Bella cardstock and then trimmed it to a 5x7 piece with the egg centered. So before you cut it make sure that the egg is not top left of your mat so that you have enough room to center it afterwards. Cut out the heart out of the Orange/Pink cardstock.

I then cut a bunch of .5” strips from the 6x6 paper pad to go behind the egg cut out. I added adhesive and laid them down.

Use a White Gel Pen to faux stitch around the edge of the heart and use alphas to write “Easter” on it. Pop it with foam dimensional tape and pop it in your frame!

Now you have a super cute framed piece for Easter that took less than an hour start to finish! It also makes a great kid’s project - for them to help lay down the strips. My 2.5 year old was enthusiastic about helping!

3-D Advent Calendar - Doodlebug Style

I have a thing for advent calendars. My parents worked their bums off and most of the time my advent calendar was the highlight of my year (presents-wise). Sometimes I had a piece of See's Candy in a box and other times I had bobby pins or rubber bands. My dad even would put comics in a few of the boxes. Sometimes there would be a pair of earrings or a small necklace in the 25 box! I loved it and I want to bring that magic to our kids as well!

When I saw Santa Express I knew that I wanted to use this collection to make an advent calendar that would last me years and years. So without holding back, I dove in!

As pictured above, the advent calendar is made up of 5 "houses". This is the first. It holds the first 11 boxes and stands 12 inches tall. The papers are a mix of 12x12 and the 6x6 pad. The solids are also doodlebug! They just released a whole solids line to match their cardstock! LOVE it!

The whole first house was inspired by "gumdrops". I loved this ginger babies paper! I used doodlebug chunky sugar coating over the top of my solid to give it a glistening look. I also ran the little white shutters through my Xyron and covered them with the regular sugar coating that doodlebug makes. And... they already make glittered alpha/numbers so I used a bunch of those all over my project.

So.. here is a funny story... I didn't want to cut out all the little numbers... and doodlebug had glittered alphas. So I just made the cuts and held up my candy shoppe doodlebug alphas - and they fit!! PERFECTLY! Check it out! :) And isn't that tree doodle-pop darling?! Those sprinkles on his front are so much more scrumptious in real life!

Well HELLO there gingerbread man!!!! I wanted one peeking out from behind a door because I thought my girls would think that was funny. So I put baby powder on the back to de-stickify my little man (thanks to Wendy Sue-Anderson for that tip!) and then adhesive on his front bottom of his body and stuck him to the door. It's SO weird to put adhesive on the front! It feels like you are doing something wrong!

Just showing you how big the boxes are. They are really sizable! Those bottom boxes (10 and 11) can easily hold little race cars.

Here comes box 12. I loved that little girl reindeer and who doesn't love candy canes!? I finished it off with some teensy type alphas in ladybug for the numbers.

I added a little sugar sprinkle to her bow. Every girl needs a little sparkle. :)

This is one of those times where you are going to have to trust me. This is so much cuter in person! It didn't photograph well, but it's almost edible! Some of the close-ups will give you a better idea, but trust me: Hansel and Gretel totally want to live here. :)

The peppermint striped corner sticker is from the santa express this and that stickers

Have you seen this "twine" font!?! So perfect for Christmas and Valentines' Day especially! :)

Here is a close up of the sugar coated doors and the little paper clip with the gumdrop. "Not my buttons! Not my gumdrop buttons!" (the gingerbread man in Shrek.. anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)

I had to get that cute santa paper in there somewhere! But the boy and girl reindeer paper on door 15 and 21 is probably my favorite.

This little scene ended up being so much fun. On box 22 are 4 stickers: well, three stickers and a mini doodle-pop. Don't you just want to get on that train!? I may have a sweet-tooth problem right now. I blame doodlebug. tee hee! :)

I was worried I was being too mono-chromatic with this box and then it ended up being my favorite. I actually re-cut the door. I had a different pattern on it, but I LOVED this blue Christmas word print and wanted to make sure it got showcased. It was a great decision to re-cut it! :)

I just had to incorporate this lamppost from the icons somewhere. I loved it from the first! I wanted a bold number on this box so I whipped out my bon bon chippers and voila!

Did you all see these holly berries sprinkles shapes!?! LOVE them!!! hoarding them. Polka dots. On the leaves. Oh my goodness.

Hi! I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs! And doodlebug! :) My father-in-law 3-d printed and painted this Olaf for Emmaline. He fit perfectly in the 24 box! :)

Okay, I may have lied earlier.. this patchwork paper and the train papers may by my favorite. Maybe I should just stop trying to find favorites. :)

The cut came with a clock, but I liked the idea of stamping my own on there and using the big sugared sprinkle shaped arrows that doodlebug makes to emphasize that it was after midnight and Santa might come at any time!

This little scene was the first that I did. I just HAD to use Mrs. Claus and that gingerbread house on the icon stickers sheet! 6 stickers make up this little scene and I left just enough room to finish it off with the ladybug chippers to emphasize Christmas day!

The 25 box is huge! Here it is with some of Emmaline's musical instruments!

Well, if you have hung out with me this long, THANK YOU! If you have ANY questions about the project, I am so happy to answer them! You can email me at CourtsCraftsBlog@gmail.com.

I used almost every paper in the collection, 9 different types of alphas, almost all the sticker sheets and a whole bottle of glitter - and I love it. I hope you do too and this inspires you to create something that you will have for years to enjoy and doodlebug just makes it that much more fun!

Pencil Holder From Imaginisce

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a fabulous summer! Mine is FLYING by! I am up on the Imaginisce blog today to give you some pencil no.2 inspiration!
Pencils are always on the school supply list and while pencil tins are darling, wouldn’t this be fun to look in a cubby or locker at? School colors can be used to add some extra umph, but Emmaline loves pink, blue, purple, and stars so this is right up her ally!

Imaginisce’s Little Princess line is perfect for many more things than scrapbooking! I have really enjoyed putting the light blue and light green polka dotted paper on boys’ cards - but I digress… I LOVE the star paper in this collection - so fun! It’s one of those things that I would wall paper with.. no seriously… Okay, okay. I may have “star” issues.
I used a cut file by Jamie Lane Designs for this and it originally came with apples as well as stars to decorate the pencils as a teacher’s gift. Dual usage? Yes, please. I grabbed some new May Arts Ribbon that is a string of gold stars and used two glue dots to add them to the back of the pencils. I thought it gave them a little extra depth.
I added a little velvet ribbon to one of the pencils because I have bow issues - I love them.
The project is incredibly sturdy and has great depth while not taking up a large foot print.
I hope this inspires you to go create something fun for your kids’ going back to school! :)

Imaginisce - Memorial Day Theme

*This was up on the Imaginisce blog a little while ago but I didn't want to post it as my friend hadn't gotten her cards yet! Silly mail! :)

I know - I know… This doesn’t appear like a Memorial Day inspired set of cards - but it is!

My best friend Kourtni (yes, my best friend and I share the same name) is a doctor in the Air Force and is a single mom. She is about to be deployed again but this time she cannot take her kids with her. In the spirit of Operation Write Home, I made these two cards for her to send home to her kids (boy;4 and a girl; 2). I’ll be sending them in a care package for her.

The Little Princess line isn’t just for little girls - it makes darling boys cards too! :) Don’t be afraid to think outside the box with your patterned papers.

I loved this little pop of pink for both hearts in the love you bubbles.

I am loving the card stock neutrals from American Crafts. I used them for all the solid colors - and those mists - so fun!

I hope you enjoyed my post for today and please remember that some of these soldiers have kids at home and the next time you participate in Operation Write Home, think about what they would want to receive. :)
