Art Anthology, Basically Bare, and May Arts

Hello and welcome to the Art Anthology, Basically Bare AND May Arts Ribbonista's Hop!!!

Let me just say that I am not a "mixed media" person exactly but I wanted to challenge myself. I was excited that this would allow me to play with some goodies that many of my crafty friends love! I had a great time!

Here is my finished project. It's a DT journal so that I can put 6x6 sheets of paper in it and remember a: what my projects are and when they are do and b: what my ideas on them were and inspiration! With two tiny humans, yes I need this!

I used an Um Wow Studio Star Confetti Stencil and the Art Anthology dimensional crystals to create this fun effect! The outlines of the stars were actually caused by my not cleaning the stencil and just moving it down and retaping it... I didn't put anything in that star space but I had before I moved it so it had some left over paint. I love it!

Leaf ribbon: love. Don't forget to cut it off it's string for this fun effect and texture!

Last tip: I covered the sun with some chevron ribbon. :) I ran it through my Xyron 5" sticker maker with permanent adhesive to make this a snap. Then I covered it with the ribbon and cut around the rays. For the center parts, I tucked them in back and adhered them with tape.

I hope you enjoyed my first real mixed media piece! I know it's not uber professional but I love it and will enjoy using it for my assignments. LUCKILY for YOU the REAL mixed media MASTER is my hopping partner today! Check out DeeDee Catron's project!

Operation Write Home and May Arts Ribbon

This Operation Write Home hop means something extra special to me this year as my best friend is being deployed on Monday to the middle east. She is a single mom and has to leave her two children behind here in the states. She is a doctor in the Air Force and will be taking care of our soldiers but is also a pilot - which is rare in the military. I have already created some cards for her to send back to her children and I will be adding this one to the bunch so she can send it home. I cannot wait for her safe return.

So... I LOVED the look of this crochet lace and only had like 3 inches left so I put it on the edge. I also love the subtle stripes of the patterned paper from Imaginisce's travel collection going a different direction than the ribbon on the card.

I used a the star confetti mask from Um Wow Studios along with a memory mist from Dreamweaver Stencils. It doesn't show up well in this picture but the white on the burlap looks really cool in person! :)

Make sure to check out the line-up on the May Arts Ribbon blog to see who else is participating in the event.

Avery Elle, Um Wow, and May Arts!

Good morning!!! :)

The Ribbonistas are hopping with Avery Elle and Um Wow.

Just to give you an idea of the products that I used on this card I thought I would write it on top of the card! :)

I had so much fun with these two companies!!! This dark wood veneer from Um Wow - scrumptious.

The May Arts chevron ribbon is just perfect here, right? It totally feels like the bike is going somewhere to me! :) And did you notice the detail on that bike? Super fun!The spokes are so thin and the chain - awesome detail!

This was my first time misting a stencil. I'm hooked! Didn't it come out nicely? It's the Um Wow Studio: Hexagon Mask.

Be sure to check out how you can win one of THREE prize PACKAGES! Check out the info on the May Arts Ribbon blog! :)
