We have a new little cousin in the family and his name is Braydon so this will be headed his way soon! But I wanted to share it with you first! I took the block shaped card from the Wrap it Up cartridge and used the hide/contour feature to hide the letter "A". Next I took the "B" from Storybook and made it the appropriate size and slanted it so that it would look like it belonged on that side of the cube. The rest was easy peasy! I have to say that I had the HARDEST time putting the canvas stickers on this card as they are SO adorable that I wanted to hoard them forever. But we all know that doesn't get us anywhere so I just had to use them. Check them out! They are so darling.

Day 6 - Christmas Tags!

This last Cricut tag was two images welded together. I liked the holes it created in the middle. I cut the flourish again to place it on top. I used my i-rock to add bling and I heat embossed the "To" and "From" with gold embossing powder.

No Cricut, No Gypsy, No Cuttlebug - just manufacturer love. :) 

Sometimes we get so caught up in what a tag could look like on our layouts or cards that we just forget to use them as... well... tags.

I LOVE Echo Park Paper™ and the Merry Christmas line is fabulous. I just took these stickers, stuck them to card stock, cut it out, punched a hole on the the top, i-rocked some bling and tied a ribbon. Done. I am going to stamp a "To, From" onto the back. Easy Peasy.

Gold bows were recycled off the top of a smoked almond package! (yay for up-cylcing!)

For this next one, I just took the My Mind's Eye: I Believe Chipboard and popped it out of it's little home. I added some green ribbon and - my favorite part - since it already has an adhesive back, it will stick right onto your gift! Done! AND it already is glittered - love that.

Next up we have the EAD Design Stickers. I had a bunch of fun with these. I stuck them to white card stock, cut them out, punched a hole in the top, added Stickles, and tied some twine at the top. 

The best part about EAD Designs is that this sticker set comes with cute little "To: From:" stickers as well. I put these on the back, but forgot to take a picture! So you'll have to go check out their website to see how cute the font is because I love it!

Artful Delight November Sketch, kit, and first DT post!

YAY for November - time to start getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas and hot chocolate and apple cider. The weather has only recently turned chilly here in San Francisco and I am thrilled to start baking and roasting more.

You see, when you live in a 450 Sq. Ft. place, and you roast something on a hot day - it turns out you are roasting yourselves! So on cold days I like to bake or roast as an eco-friendly way to heat up the house and get us fed! :)

Anywho, I did this LO right after we got back from London and Paris, so that romantic trip was on my mind. Here is what I did with one such memory:

This is my first post as a member of the Artful Delight Design Team and I am SO excited to show you this AWESOME kit that Leeanne and senior DT member Jamie have put together! 

Let's see... how many lay-outs have you seen me do.... EEK! I was so nervous about this, but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out! Thanks to fellow DT member Debbie who created the sketch! Good goin', girl!

My opinion on the kit:

Okay, seriously... who includes both Stickles and Tattered Angels as bonus items in a kit?!? I just LOVE that. She hit all the major elements. 

I couldn't believe how much stuff just kept coming out of my box. It was really incredible. I have supplies for months! 

These patterns are sweet and whimsical and incredibly romantic. I loved them. 

The flocked transparencies are SO cool. I will be using them very soon... In fact... one of them made it onto my spiderweb card I did a few days ago... :)

There are rub-ons, thickers, alpha sets, stickers, glittered transparencies, prima flowers, ribbon, twine, chipboard, and so so much more. I was in embellishment overload and therefore embellishment heaven!

One disclaimer: She meant to throw in some solids, but filled the spot with embellishments. Next month you can guess there will be solids. :) 

I have never seen a kit like this and am SO thrilled to be on the DT sharing such a great product that Leeanne has put together.

This was a quick layout done for a Labor Day Weekend challenge about what we did over the holiday. I'm not a "scrapbook person" so layouts are always really tough for me. Since our anniversary is on September 1st (and we got married Labor Day Monday), we went to someone else's wedding and celebrated the anniversary of our own.

Challenge #9 - Incorporate Snowmen into a home decor project.
Well, those that know me from the beginning know that one of my first posts was making this tree into an Easter egg tree. I've decorated this tree with Christmas ornaments during the holidays and now it will have little snowmen on it! These are the first three I made. I used the Gypsy to mold and weld three circles together to make a snowman as I didn't have a snowman cut.

Hezzy's Wedding Week - Photo Frame

One of my bridesmaids - Heather - whom I call Hezzy or Hezzymae - is getting married on July 10th! My husband and I have been here for a while already (we got here on the 3rd) and have been LOVING Montana. It's so beautiful here.

Heather was my college roomie and we have had so many crazy adventures together - none of which will make it on this blog because girlfriends keep their secrets :).

Anyway, I wanted to do some home made with love presents for her. We were always that way and she is SO crafty that I know she will love them.

First up: an embellished photo frame. I bought this frame at IKEA for $3.99 (not bad!). A little while ago, I had gotten some vinyl from EAD Designs and this was my first attempt at cutting vinyl. After some trial and error, I found that since my blade is older, I put it at a depth of 5, speed of 3 and pressure of 3. It is recommended for a new blade to just have it at 4. Whatever floats your boat! :). This worked perfectly with my little Cricut.

I cut the corners from Storybook™ as well as the "and". The H for Heather and C for Court came from the Gypsy Font™.

I made it so that we could take a picture at the wedding and she can print it out and put it in there. I think it will make for a lovely reminder of the wonderful day we are about to share celebrating the love between her and Aaron.

Owl

I made this little owl card for fun. He was cut from the Storybook Cartridge™. I used the shadow feature to make the card base. It was welded on my Gypsy™. Then I cut both the shorty/holes function and the shift of the normal key because I thought they all went together like layers. That is not the case! :)

So, I used most of the pieces that cut out from the normal key and placed them on the Shorty/Holes shift function owl which turned out just how I thought it was supposed to layer! :) I placed the pupils right in the center and showed my husband and he moved them into the upper right corners - so I have to give him his kuddos for that! I love it!

This card would have been perfect for My Pink Stamper's new Tweetie Hoo Puns™ stamp set!

OTWC#13 and Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #31

This card was made using the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge sketch:

The challenge at Off the Wall Craftiness was to use the colors from the inspiration: pinks and blues.

I had a great time making this card. The paper is from K and Company, placed onto kraft card stock. I cut out the images from the Storybook Cartridge™ and made the shadow circle bigger so that it would suffice for the sketch challenge. I used my flower punch to cut out the background for the buttons, stamped it with the Hero Arts™ stamps CL272 set, added some ribbon, and glued it all on! :)

The Cuttlebug Spot Challenge Favorite Flowers!

I found another challenge site and I love how it's challenging me to craft more and stretch my wings. So, while my actual favorite flower is the sweet pea, I chose the "poppy" from the Storybook Cartridge™ as all the poppies in California are blooming right now and it's simply magnificent. With that said and without much more, I used Storybook, Sentimentals Cartridge™ and the Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge™ for these images as well as my Cuttlebug™, A2 D'vine Swirl Emboss Folder™, and A2 Swiss Dots Emboss Folder™. Enjoy!

Other Mother's Day Card 2010

Well, I couldn't just make one card when I have a wonderful mother-in-law as well (we call her my co-mom because she's wonderful and I didn't want the bad connotations to be there). Anyway, so this one is for my co-mom.

I have to say I was tickled pink today when one of my crafting heros Meda decided to "follow" my blog. As icing on the cake (hmm... I was going to make cupcakes today... crafting or cupcakes, crafting or cupcakes, CRAFTING!) Carole, who seems to be the mother of the crafting community that I watch, commented on one my cards.

For the card I used:

There were four things that I tried for the first time with this card:
I was really excited to use the Scissors from the Sentimentals Cartridge™ so I wanted the card to open up that way (a front opening card).

This was my first attempt using any kind of shadowing feature. I think it really does make a card "pop".

The third element that was new to me was curling the flower edges - an idea that I scraplifted.

And lastly, another new element was making a band that went around the outside.

I used eyelets with my Crop-a-Dile to make the holes because I wanted a very finished look and ribbon to hold the back of it. I'll post a picture of this as I wish more crafters showed the backs of their cards. I often wonder how they get things to wrap around the cards and how they finish them off, so this was my solution to that. Enjoy!

Mother's Day Card 2010

I like to get ahead of the game and my mom looks forward to my handmade cards every year. So I wanted to be able to share this with you in case you liked it enough to give to your mom too!

Cartridges Used:

Start with Sentimentals Cartridge™
Cut one 4.5 inch
Cut one 4.5 inch
Use Foam dots to adhere piece that was cut out from the envelope to the front of the card to make it pop.
Change to Storybook Cartridge™
Cut .5 inch letters on the Shorty setting. Spell out Happy Mother's Day.
Adhere with foam dots that were cut in half to make them small enough.

Smile and hand it to mom!

Easter Egg Tree

Well, Easter has come and gone, but I thought I would share this Easter Egg tree that I made for the centerpiece of our Easter table (although I admit I got very sick and we ended up eating at our parents' house, but it was still great decoration for the month or so before!).

I used the Designer's Calendar Cartridge™ to find the egg shape. I cut out 6 at 3.5 inches out of sage colored and pre-embossed with little dots card stock. I then used the eggs as the guide for the size of the white side of the paper. I traced 6 eggs onto the white shiny paper and then cut them out by hand as I didn't want to have the same design (which wouldn't line up) on both sides of the egg. I then glued them together. I cut out flourishes from the Storybook Cartridge™ from the same sage colored cardstock and glued them to the white side of the egg. I embellished with Swarovski™ crystals and used my new Crop-a-Dile™ to punch holes and snaps to create a finished look. I cut white and deep purple ribbon to make loops and then tied the tops of the bows to the tree. Voila! Now they will be packed up for next year and hopefully I'll get to use it in the middle of my own table next year.

Valentines

So, my first real project that I did with my Cricut™ was to make Valentines for my bridesmaids. I went to my friend Inna's house and we watched Sex and the City, drank Cosmopolitans and had a wonderful time crafting. It was a great girls' night. This is the paper of our labor.
